FTC ACHIEVES TENNIS CLUBMARK ACCREDITATION! After its formal assessment by Tennis Scotland officials on Wednesday September 30th, Forres Tennis Club has been awarded Tennis Clubmark accreditation and is the first club in the Highlands to achieve this LTA-endorsed award. Tennis Clubmark is a prestigious award and is a club's opportunity to be recognised for setting excellent standards. Achieving Tennis Clubmark means the LTA endorses and supports FTC's tennis programme, policies and procedures, action and development planning, and club management. Importantly it also now places the Club in a position to be able to apply for LTA funding to help support FTC's future plans for adding floodlights to courts 1 & 2 and constructing mini tennis courts. Clubmark is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs and the LTA is an accredited partner. Tennis Clubmark includes all the key criteria of the national Clubmark programme but has also been made tennis specific to ensure it is a relevant accreditation scheme for our sport.
COURT RE-SURFACING COMPLETED The re-surfacing of Courts 3 and 4 and the pressure washing of Courts 1 and 2 have now been successfully completed by contractors Sports Lining Services. All courts are now available for play as normal. The Club is also delighted to report that Planning Consent has been received - subject to written confirmation - for the erection of floodlights on Courts 1 & 2. Subject to appropriate funding becoming available we would hope to have floodlights in place some time in 2010 after which Courts 1 & 2 will then be re-surfaced.
ALAN LANE IS NEW CLUB COACH The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Lane as new Club Coach with immediate effect. Alan replaces Lesley McConnell who, after some 40 years of sterling service to the Club, has relocated from Moray - together with husband Duncan following his recent retirement - to be closer to their family.
The Club extends a warm welcome to Alan who is an LTA-Licensed Development Coach and has been part of the coaching team at Forres for some time since relocating to the North of Scotland last year. Alan will also be sharing his coaching time with Rothiemurchus Tennis Club.
